What do you call the ultimate combination of warm luxury, a city of romance, and rooftop views of a sparkling Eiffel Tower? It could be called "perfection," but it just so happens to be called Grand Hotel du Palais Royal. Last week, I had the pleasure of spending a night in this stunning, five-star boutique hotel in the heart of Paris. I arrived exhausted after a 10 hour flight and only left with a longing for the day I return. Curious to know what could have happened in just 24 hours here? Keep reading below...
For starters, getting here is easy. The location is perfect. Metro stops are a two-minute walk away, cabs sit around the corner (or they'll call one for you), and the city of Paris is waiting just outside your doorsteps. The Louvre is down the street, along with the Palais Royal (of course) and its surrounding gardens. Shops, cafes, restaurants, romantic strolls down Parisian streets? You got it.
However, all this is not the greatest selling point. What I absolutely loved most about this place is quite simple: it felt like home. Despite the bustling activity and shining lights of Paris, the second you walk into the doors of Grand Hotel du Palais Royal you are transported. Seriously. The luxury here, unlike in some hotels, doesn't feel stifling. You feel relaxed, at ease, and as if you've been invited to a warm home...a really nice home, I might add.
We were treated to the nicest room in the hotel, located on its own top floor (you get a private elevator...amazing!). After a champagne toast, snacking on pastel-colored macarons, and gazing out at the tops of Paris and the Eiffel Tower from our private terrace, it was hard to remember grudgingly traveling across the world just hours before arriving. By the time morning came, breakfast was delivered to our room and I decided right then and there that I never wanted to leave.
I could go on and on about how romantically perfect, cozy, and luxurious this place is, but it just makes me miss it more and more. I am forever jealous of anyone who gets a chance to experience Paris through Grand Hotel du Palais Royal -- you really are in for the best treat!
Thanks again to the welcoming staff at GHPR for inviting me to stay!
